Access to culture: does technology help or hinder? Panel debate & interactive art installations display

19 March, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EET

In recognition of the need for ensuring widespread access to culture and exploring the role new digital applications and tools can play, the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union together with Vodafone are organising a joint event: Access to culture: does technology help or hinder? – in an attempt to show how this dynamic can deliver value to citizens and communities.

The event will feature a panel debate around the role that technology should play in helping to ensure increased access to culture, as well as several interactive art installations. Modulab, a successful art, science and technology centre based in Bucharest will showcase two of their mesmerising creations exploring the potential of the interaction between technology and art: Mind Game (an interactive installation using EEG headsets to control a physical object) and Holopixel (a volatile medium projection). The Synthesis Gallery, the first VR-based art gallery in Berlin, will also contribute to the event with a virtual reality visit of a cultural heritage site.
