Conference on New Challenges regarding Copyright in the Digital Single Market

After an intense process of negotiations, the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market has been recently adopted. Introducing modern regulations in the field of copyright and related rights, adapted to the digital era, its provisions are of great level of interest for both stakeholders and the EU civil society, raising vast debates within all medias.

The directive introduces modern copyright rules tailored to digital era and with real benefits for everyone, guaranteed rights for users, a fair remuneration for creators and greater clarity of rules for platforms. Increased access to knowledge is also ensured by simplifying copyright rules concerning text and data mining for research purposes in the field of education and cultural heritage conservation.

The Conference aims at providing the appropriate framework for debates and analyses of the new provisions of this Directive, focusing on its core elements and regulations designed for a Digital Single Market functional and beneficial to all EU citizens.

At the same time, the June 19 conference will be followed on the second day by a joint workshop on copyright in the music sector and a concert. In addition, the two events will be followed on June 21 by a back-to-back conference titled „Music Moves Europe – Opportunities and Challenges in Music in the Digital Age”.
