The 7th ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASEMME7) will be held on the 15th and 16th of May 2019, in Bucharest, Romania, at the Palace of the Parliament.
ASEMME7 will be preceded on the 14th of May by the 2nd Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) which will also take place at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest. Both meetings will be organised under the auspices of Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The theme of ASEMME7 is „Connecting education: inclusion, mobility and excellence in support of the Sustainable Development Goals”. In order to ensure a successful and focused ministerial debate for ASEMME7, we sought to strengthen our collective action to achieve SDGs, especially SDG4, and reinforce global political commitment to education.
On this grounds, the first day of ASEMME7 will include a plenary session on promoting mobility for everyone and on ensuring a balanced and inclusive mobility in the digital era.
The second day of ASEMME7 includes a working meeting for ministers, vice-ministers, state secretaries, deputy state secretaries, the European Commission and representatives of stakeholders in order to adopt The Bucharest Ministerial Statement, a document which will emphasize the commitment of ASEM Partners and Stakeholders in developing the cooperation between both regions Asia and Europe, in the field of education.
Also, the agenda has a second plenary session focusing on the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and how the ASEM Education Process could contribute. At the end of the meeting, there will be adopted the ASEMME7 Chair’s Conclusions and the host of ASEMME8 will share their plans for the next ministers’ meeting which will take place in 2021.
