7th ASEF Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC7), Bucharest, May 11 – 14, 2019

On May 11-14, 2019, the Romanian capital hosted the 7th ASEF Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC7), an event jointly organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) and the Ministry of National Education (MEN), under the aegis of the rotating Council Presidency held by Romania.

The meeting represented a platform for dialogue between university leaders, students, higher education experts and other relevant higher education actors of Europe and Asia.

The agenda comprised panels on the role of higher education institutions in the achievement of the goals included in the 2030 Agenda.

The students’ and rectors’ working groups debated on the impact of the Sustainable Development Goals on academic governance, on the social relevance of the universities and on the internationalisation of higher education.

In that context, the participants agreed on a set of policy recommendations, to be presented in the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting of the Ministers for Education – ASEM ME7 (Bucharest, May 15-16).
