Snug Harbour with Claudiu M. Florian and Irina Dobrescu

Literature has always had a way of bringing people together. The Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, together with local partners (Muntpunt Grand Café, Snug Harbour, Waterstones Brussels, Brussels Writers’ Circle), has developed projects for this exact purpose.

One of the best occasions was the meeting on Thursday, April 11, with two talented Romanian writers, Claudiu M. Florian, laureate of the European Prize for Literature 2016, and Irina Dobrescu, author and illustrator of children’s books, founding member of the Romanian Illustrators Club, in the relaxing atmosphere provided by the Snug Harbor project and hosted by the Muntpunt Grand Café in Brussels.

On this occasion, the audience witnessed a reading from the works of the two authors and entered into a dialogue with them about personal experiences and ways to write, the perspectives and the role of literature in the present world.

Background:

Snug Harbor, a project created by writer Sofie Verraest, invites writers from all over the world to discuss their work, sources of inspiration, the importance of literature, but also to meet avid readers – in a place of warm and sophisticated encounters: Muntpunt Grand Cafe.

In the same space, perfect to enjoy reading, Muntpunt Grand Café, the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU has set up a little library, with books by Romanian authors, translated into English and French. Books can be borrowed at any time, while anyone can contribute to the collection by donating books.
