Participation of Minister Delegate for European Affairs, George Ciamba, at the meetings of the General Affairs Council and General Affairs Council (Article 50) (April 9, 2019, Luxembourg)

Minister Delegate for European Affairs, George Ciamba, will attend, on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, in Luxembourg, the meetings of the General Affairs Council and General Affairs Council (Article 50).

The agenda of the GAC meeting includes the following topics: The Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027, the reflection paper “Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030”, the Union’s values in Hungary and the rule of law in Poland, as well as preparation for the forthcoming elections to the European Parliament.

With regard to the Multiannual Financial Framework post-2020, European ministers will debate on the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy, two key elements in the EU budget proposal. Ministers will also adopt Conclusions on the Reflection Paper “Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030” and will review the status of work within the procedures under way as per Article 7 (1) on the rule of law in Poland and respect for EU values in Hungary.

The debates of European affairs ministers at the GAC 50 meeting will aim to exchange views in preparation of the European Council Art. 50 of April 10, 2019 in Brussels, with the European Union’s Chief Negotiator on Brexit Michel Barnier attending.

At the end of the General Affairs Council meeting, the minister delegate for European affairs will participate and deliver a speech as part of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership conference organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council and the European Commission.
