The meeting of the Directors General for Schools, organized under the framework of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, took place on 1-2 April, in Timişoara.
The main theme of the meeting was “Opening schools to Europe” and the participants had the opportunity to discuss the role of the new Erasmus+ programme in the development of schools, with particular emphasis on ensuring the conditions for the mobility of pupils and teachers.
Promoting common European values and the contribution of culture to strengthening European identity were also on the agenda of the meeting. On this occasion, a series of good practices developed in Romania were shared. At the same time, concrete tools for the implementation of the Council Recommendation on key competences and the promotion of common values in schools were presented.
The participants visited the National Pedagogical College “Carmen Sylva” and the National College “C.D. Loga”, interacting with students and teachers involved in projects related to education for democratic citizenship.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, alongside the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission, and with the support of partners from Timiș County (Timiș County Prefect Institution, Timiș County Council and Timiș County School Inspectorate).
