The organisation of the Informal Meeting of the EU Member States with partners from the Western Balkans and Turkey

On the occasion of the traditional attendance by the candidate states of the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU Member States, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Meleșcanu, held a working lunch on the 1st of February, in Bucharest, with the partners from the Western Balkans and Turkey. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and by Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations participated at the working lunch.

The discussions allowed for an exchange of views on regional developments with emphasis on the European perspective of the Western Balkans and the manner in which more substantial results could be obtained, including during the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The discussions stressed the support for maintaining the Western Balkans region on the EU priorities agenda during the term of the Romania Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the importance of concrete results in line with the individual developments, and in agreement with the expectations of the public opinion in the region.
