The State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Mr. Călin Ilie Bodea, participated, at 24th of January 2019, as Vice-Chairman of the High-Level Group for Competitiveness (HLG COMPET), a function that our country ensures during the Trio Romania – Finland – Croatia, on a meeting to prepare the work of the COMPET Council scheduled to take place in February.
The agenda of the meeting included subjects such as the Coordination Plan for Artificial Intelligence, the Single Market / Competitiveness Balance, important projects of common European interest and their relevance for increasing competitiveness.
The Romanian Presidency proposed an in-depth debate on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Competitiveness of European Industry at the Competitiveness Council reunion meeting of February 18, 2019 and the adoption by the Council of conclusions referring to the Co-ordinated Plan on Artificial Intelligence. “In the next period, the challenge will be to adapt to the rapid evolution of digital technology. Prospects for growth and employment depend on it, “Secretary of State Ilie Bodea asserted.
Another topic debated in the work of HLG COMPET focused on the major projects of common European interest, projects which will contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the European Union. These projects will help shape the future European industrial policy. Within the Trio HLG Competitiveness will continue the relevant debates for the European industry.
