Presentation of the priorities of Romanian Presidency of the EU Council, by Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, in front of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE)

Today, January 23rd, 2019, Tudorel Toader, Minister of Justice, as acting President  of the Justice and Home Affairs Council, presented the priorities in the justice domain to the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament.

Minister Tudorel Toader highlighted the goal of reaching an agreement between the European Parliament and the Council in this parliamentary term on the appointment of the European Chief Prosecutor, as well as the special importance the Romanian Council Presidency attaches to the legislative proposals on electronic evidence in criminal matters  and to the sectorial programs ”Rights and Values​​” and ”Justice” in the proposal for a Regulation on the Multiannual Financial Framework.

The Romanian Minister of Justice expressed his conviction in a close collaboration with the European Parliament in order to complete as many legislative files as possible and to achieve the Union’s strategic objectives regarding the area of ​freedom, security and justice.

Europe is in the Romanians heart and the Romanian Presidency will put the European citizen in the center of its objectives” said Tudorel Toader.
