EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and Minister Ștefan-Radu Oprea will host in Bucharest a ”Citizens’ Dialogues” session, on the topic of international trade

Ștefan Radu Oprea, minister for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship, and EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström agreed to organize a ”Citizens’ Dialogues” session, in the margin of the Foreign Affairs Council – Trade, that will take place in Bucharest, on February 21-22, 2019. The mai topic will be the status of negotiations and implementation of free trade agreements between the EU and third countries.

Ștefan-Radu Oprea and Cecilia Malmström met today, Jan 22, in Brussels, ahead of the presentation in INTA of the trade priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, due to take place on Wednesday.
The agenda of the meeting also covered the main files managed by Romania for the next six months. The two officials talked about the upcoming informal meeting of the trade ministers (FAC Trade).
Ștefan-Radu Oprea also met MEP Jose Ignacio Salafranca Sanchez-Neyra, Rapporteur for the EU-Mercosur trade negociations.

Bilateral meetings held in the margins of the discussions in INTA on trade priorities provide an opportunity to strengthen communication with representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament with a view of a successful Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
