The official opening ceremony of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

Media Advisory

Starting January, the 1st of 2019, Romania has taken over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The official opening ceremony of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will take place on Thursday, 10th of January 2019, at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.

On 11th of January, there will be joint press statements/joint press conference made by the President of Romania, Klaus Werner Iohannis, and the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, and by the Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dăncilă, with the head of the European Commission.

The journalists interested in these events can confirm their participation by sending an e-mail to the address: acreditare@mae.ro. The e-mail should include:

– the event / events to be covered

– a scan of a valid press card

– a scan of a valid ID

We kindly ask media organizations to limit their accreditation requests to two journalists and one technician, for each event. At the official opening ceremony of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the number of available seats is limited – so access will be granted in the order of accreditation requests received. The journalists who will not get access in the event Hall can follow the event from the Press Center at the Athenaeum (situated in the Small Hall and its Foyer, level -1).

The deadline for accreditation applications is 5th of January 2019, 4 p.m.

Accreditation badges can be picked up starting with Wednesday, 9 January, 12 p.m., from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Gafencu room.
